2022 AUCTION  Our 2022 fundarising auction will take place on facebook between 26th October and 5th November at 1900hrs .  Please go to the page to see the lots avaialble from the 26th.  Help us raise some funds to get us through the winter https://www.facebook.com/GSRScotlandAuction

Our thanks goes to Robert Narloch who recently walked for us and raised £630 in memory of Gorgeous GSRS Boy Jack who recently went to the rainbow bridge. We are extremely grateful and this will be put to great use saving other dogs in Jacks memory.

We have several dogs in our kennels, one who suffers from EPI and needs specialist meds. Every little penny that our supporters raise for us goes in to funding our kennels, vet bills and food.

In Memory of Jack

2022's show has far exceeded all of our expectations. You have helped us raise £7700 and we can't thank you enough.

To all our volunteers and helpers on the day (there are far too many to name you all, but you know who you are) you helped us set up, kept the stalls and activities running, and helped us pack up at the end of the night. THANK YOU ALL. Without you there would be no show!

Thanks to all our stall holders, K9 Manhunt & ScentWork Scotland for their demo, our class sponsors, everyone who donated prizes and home baking, the ladies in the entries tent (who worked their socks of this year), John our First aider, our judges (who all had an impossible task on their hands), George our compere for keeping everyone right.

A very special mention to Nadia from Yellow Dog photography who worked here absolute socks off taking photographs for everyone ALL day and sent EVERY penny our way. We really appreciate and love you loads
And finally THANK YOU ALL for coming along and supporting us. There's no show without participants and you made it extra special this year so thanks each and everyone of you.

Who has missed our Vogrie dog shows? (Vogrie Country park, Midlothian)

Well we are going to try again this year. Pop Saturday 30th July 2022 in to your diary.

We will need your help though. Its been tough over the last 2 years for businesses, and we normally rely on local business to help us with our raffle. If you have a business or know of one thats able to give us a prize we would be really grateful as its a very good fundraiser for us.

We will also be looking for smaller bits n bobs n alcohol for the tombollas, sponsorship for classes and (nearer the day) baking for the cake stand.

If there is ANYTHING you think you can do to help us please get intouch.

Thanks Team GSRS x

Thank you to Pets at Home Wishaw for having us as their partner store this year. We have been lucky enough to receive £1372.49 from the Christmas Sant Paws appeal which we are extremely grateful for. Thanks to everyone who donated when they visited Pets at home.

WHERE DO YOUR DONATIONS GO

You our supporters have all super generous to us this year and we are grateful to each and everyone of you who has donated and fundraised for us as its been a tough one. In return we thought it would be nice to let you know how some of your money is spent (out with our everyday food, kennel and vet bills).

This is one very special story from one very special boy who deserved a second chance so we gave him his new name 'Chance'. You might need a tissue or two but fear not it has a happy ending..........

Hi my name is Chance and I wanted to tell you my story about my life so far. (no photo of chance as he wishes to remain anon)

I did not come from a very good home and I wandered the streets most of the time with my previous owner. I then had to spend 2 years in kennels waiting to see what was going to happen to me. Eventually it was agreed that I could go in to the care of GSRS. 2 GSRS ladies drove to find me (apparently one of them was very pleased that she managed to drive to the correct place without getting lost !) It had been a very long drive they said, nearly 3 hours and an early start that morning.

I am told that I am a very long haired GSD but I had been shaved completely. When I met the GSRS team I was happy to see them and wagged my tail and gave kisses. I said my goodbyes to the girls who had looked after me and jumped in to the GSRS van happily. When we stopped driving for a coffee and a roll, I was offered half an egg sandwich which I took very gently because I do not snatch food.

We drove for another couple of hours and then I got out the van at a new place, my new kennels and I met a lady called Carol who would look after me, she also got some tail wags and kisses. Funny looking birds there too but I didn’t bother, I just looked at the chicken things... Lots of other strange noises but I didn’t react.

After an overnight rest, the next day Carol noticed there were flies around my manhood area, and I was very itchy. So off to the vet it was. However it was a man vet and I did not like him at all, I don’t know why, so I had to have a muzzle on and then more appointments were made for me. The next appointment, I saw a lady vet called Natalie and I liked her, she was very patient with me and took her time to get to know me and did not rush things.

So, I have blood tests done, I was given antibiotics and other medicines. There was a deep weeping hole in my belly that needed urgent attention and I also had a lump on my neck.

After quite a lot of vet trips I had the lump tested and sent away for investigation. Luckily this was not a bad lump and it was removed and while I was in dreamland on the vet operating table they operated on my belly and took out the bad bits and stitched me back up. My necked healed up within a week or so but my belly took ages to heal properly. Just now it is looking good.

However, I was still very itchy all over and other tests, blood and urine and things did not show up much. I then got a special injection and after about 3 days I stopped itching and scratching. This injection only lasts about 4 weeks and so after about 3 weeks I started to itch again, but I had an appointment for another injection and after 2 days it worked again. While all this was going on I could not get my boosters restarted but I have had them both now so all is good.

While I have been living at my new kennel home I also get walked by a lovely couple called Vicky & Chris. My kennel mum says I am a bit of a celebrity in the area, lots of people know who I am when I get walked in the woods.

At the kennels I get to play in a big garden area , with tyres and sand pits and stuff and I get my girlfriends Bella and Lexi to play chase with me in the garden and I like that.

Then there are people who the GSRS folk call “Supporters”, and they send stuff to us by a magic thing called a “Wishlist” ....we get balls and toys and lovely healthy treats like pigs noses and hairy rabbit ears and other things and it gets delivered (I know this coz I eavesdrop when Carol is talking to Dorothy & Carolyn)......

Now, there is super duper good news............... I am going to a new home and family very soon, if the vet says I am ok this week! The GSRS team know my new family and home and they say I will be very spoiled, so fingers crossed.

I will really miss Carol and her husband, and the other dogs in the kennels but my new mum & dad will send pictures to them when I settle in. I will also miss my walks with Vicky & Chris, but im promised lots of new adventures in my new home.

I will also miss my lady vet Natalie, but I am going to a new lady vet at my new home and I am going to visit just for treats and to say hello before my next injection is due.

I want to say thank you very much to everyone at GSRS who helped save me and to the lady vet Natalie too.

I am told that my hair will eventually grow in to be long and shiny and it’s already starting, Woo Hoo, I will look even more gorgeous!

So very much looking forward to the next stage in my life with my new family..

Love and kisses from Chance xx
