Hunter

Meet Hunter, who is a handsome 4 year old, good sized, black & tan short coat neutered male.

When the volunteer arrived at the home and rang the doorbell, he was barking along with the other dog in the home behind the door (not aggressive more excitement - someone is here). After entering the home, Hunter came walking up and started to sniff the volunteer, barking stopped and no jumping up.

Our Volunteer went into the living room where Hunter jumped on the sofa and let the volunteer sit next to him and he pawed to get attention, full on belly rubs and kisses - he is a big adorable soft boy - loves his cuddles. He wasn't keen on the treats to start with (he can be fussy with treats) but near the

end of the visit he was taking/asking for treats gently.

Hunter has been to training classes in the past, where he knows sit, down, leave and recall - current owners do let Hunter run around on a longline, will recall but needs some encouragement - this would need to be worked on in his new home.

He is walked on a halti as he does pull to get to the parkand will bark at other dogs when on lead but not aggressive more excitement - when off the lead he doesn't bark at other dogs and will play around them rather than in the centre of a group.

He loves a ball which could be used for training as he is fussy with treats.

Travels well in the car, once he knows you are near the park or beach he will start to bark with excitement. Hunter can be left in the home and will not destroy anything or bark excessively.

He doesn't like to be in areas where there is a lot of heavy traffic, can be wary when out walking when it's dark and will react to fireworks. Would be suited to a semi-rural or rural home.

He currently lives with another dog which is a 2 year old female Goldendoodle and they get on great, Hunter could live with another female dog. Lives with a child over 10 years old and used to visiting children in the home, as per the rehoming guidelines children to be over 10 years old in the new home.

Hunter is being rehomed as the family are relocating overseas and it wouldn't be fair/sensible to take him with them - this has been a hard decision for the family, as they have had Hunter since he was 8 weeks old.

Hunter would make a loving pet to enjoy walks, adventures, and most of all cuddles on the sofa.
