Another amazing show was held this weekend by German Shepherd Lovers West Lothian to raise funds for us. They have made a fantastic £2124 for us. Thank You to each and everyone of the team who made it a super day.

All this fund-raising everyone has done for us recently really takes the pressure off us over the winter months where all our bills increase and the number of dogs finding homes decreases (especially in December when we don't rehome). Our dogs will be cosy this winter.

In Memory of Les Cowan, Les is described by his family as an ardant fan of german Shepherds, owning 3, Jasper, Jake and Rufus. The last of these dogs Les lost several years ago and due to his own ill health he couldn't take on another one, but he surrounded himself in his family's dogs and was happy to help with the family dog sitting.

Les's wish was to have a collection for German Shepherd Rescue Scotland at his funeral and his friends and family have done him proud. We thank you Les and hope you are back together with Jasper, Jake and Rufus by your side

Our thanks again goes to our volunteer, Laura Smeaton and all her friends and family for putting together a fantastic dog show on Sunday and raising an amazing £1365.40 for our rescue. Thanks to everyone who attended on the day and made it such a brilliant day.

Thanks to everyone who took part in our auction this year. You helped raise a fantastic amount. Thanks to everyone who donated prizes to us, we certainly couldn't have done it without some fantastic prizes to choose from and bid on.

We are delighted to announce our show fundraising total for 2019. We can not thank everyone who made the show possible enough. To all our volunteers and helpers on the day, to the bakers and donators and to everyone who came along and braved the wettest day of the year you should all be very proud helping us achieve another fantastic total.

Thank You to volunteer William Patterson and to members of the East Neuk Wobblers Trials Club who held a trial at the weekend to raise funds for us. They made another fantastic £280 which brings their grand total for this year up to an amazing £770

Not forgetting to mention rescue dogs Diesel on tyre checking duties for the day and Kaia supervising the water obstacles (her favourite place to be)

The family of the late Jessie Mowbray today presented us with a cheque from donations that were generously collected at her recent funeral. Jessie was truly devoted to the breed and I am sure will be missed by everyone who knew her. Our dogs will benefit from this thoughtful donation and I am sure Jessie will be pleased it has come our way.

Here is what her family has said about Jessie:

In memory of Jessie D L Mowbray 1933-2018

"For nearly 60 years Jessie owned, bred, showed and judged German Shepherd Dogs. At the age of 14 she handled her first one and over the next 50 years continued to show them with some success.

Along with her late husband Johnny, she was a member of, and leading light in, numerous GSD Clubs and Advisory Groups.

She judged throughout the UK at all level of dog shows, culminating in an invite to judge GSDs at Crufts in 2010. Unfortunately she had to withdraw from this appointment due to her declining health.

In 2011 she received the GSD Breed Council’s Gold Medal for Services to the Breed, becoming the first woman in Scotland to receive this accolade.

She also had a keen interest in the welfare of the Breed and for this reason her son William felt it would be a fitting tribute to her memory to have a collection at her funeral for this Rescue Service. A substantial amount was raised, which is being split between the Rescue Service and another charity."

We are humbled today to have received a donation of £250. This donation was collected at the funeral of Rab Kelly who sadly passed away recently. Rab told his wife Debbie and Daughter Robyn that his final wish was that money be collected in his memory for GSRS (and another charity). His family will be looked after by his loyal GSDs Hank and Flo.

Our condolences go to Debbie and Robyn at this sad time, be rest assured our kennel dogs will be looked after this winter thanks to Rab x
